Our Story

Welcome to the Amsterdam Hotel, a cherished institution with a history dating back to the 18th century. Originally known as the Harley House Hotel, our prime location on Marine Parade has long been the perfect spot to enjoy Brighton’s lively attractions, shops, and breathtaking seaside views. With sweeping vistas of the Palace Pier and Aquarium, our spacious ground-floor terrace and first-floor balcony have always been popular among our guests.

Our tradition of outstanding cuisine and cozy accommodations began under the attentive care of Mrs. E.B. Frame, our original proprietor. With rates starting at just 3 guineas and no extra charges for baths or afternoon teas, we quickly became a favored destination.

Today, as the Amsterdam Hotel, we proudly uphold this rich heritage. In 2024, we completed extensive renovations to blend modern style with our historic charm. We continue to make annual updates to ensure we stay at the forefront of hospitality, whilst remembering our roots as Harley House Hotel.

When you stay with us, you’re not just a guest—you’re part of a living history. Experience the perfect fusion of historic elegance and contemporary comfort at the Amsterdam Hotel.
